Drikung Kagyu, a Major Lineage in
Tibetan Buddhism

The International Drikung Kagyu Council hopes to educate interested individuals around the world on the rich history of this Buddhist order. Lord Jigten Sumgön born 1143, the founder of the lineage, established teachings that attracted more than 100,000 people at the time.

H.H. Kyabgön Chetsang

His Holiness Kyabgön Chetsang is the 37th throne holder of the Drikung Kagyu lineage and the 7th reincarnation of the Chetsang Rinpoche. He is a manifestation of Chenrezig (Compassion), also known as Avalokitesvara.

H.H. Kyabgön Chungtsang

His Holiness Kyabgön Chungtsang is the 36th throne holder of the Drikung Kagyu lineage and the 8th reincarnation of the Chungtsang Rinpoche. He is a manifestation of Jampalyang  (Wisdom), also known as Manjushri.

Lord Jigten Sumgön

The glorious Phagmo Drupa had 500 disciples who possessed the white umbrella; but as he said, again and again, his successor would be an upāsaka who has attained the 10th level of a bodhisattva.
